Lazy Saturday

It is now my third day here in the land down under. After my jaunt this morning, I got to skype Ryan for a little bit. We’re both adjusting to each other’s schedule, but there always seems to be time at the beginning or end of the day to chat. Thank God for the internet; how did people even do this kind of stuff before it?

After a lazy morning into the afternoon, we all got dressed and went to a food festival down the street. There were tons of vendors there selling all different types of cuisines and snacks. I got some spanikopita to eat there and ended up buying some fresh pasta (gluten free) and Napoli sauce to cook up later. I also got some gorgeous looking strawberries, which were grown on a local family farm and picked yesterday. They were probably some of the best strawberries I’ve ever had.

Another block over from the festival is something called the Collective Markets. Here different vendors sell hand made jewelery, clothes, art, alligator skins, and food, just to mention a few things. We saw some awesome stuff and the shops there are open every weekend. My roommate Jess and I got some fresh churros, complete with whipped cream and chocolate sauce. It was divine! I also bought a ring at one of the jewelery vendors, who mostly specialized in crystals and natural stones. There were lots of beautiful things to look at.

After getting back to the apartment, I did some reading and took a nap, but I woke up from it very late. It’s been a very lazy Saturday, but it’s nice to have some time to relax before classes start in just over a week.
